Abstract:

The article focuses on various developments related to green building laws in the U.S. It informs that over thirty cities and counties in California alone have enacted green building ordinances that apply to civic, residential or commercial buildings. A certification by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a third-party green building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most prolific national green building certification standard.
